This is a walkback, not a U-turn, a temporary retreat, not a defeat.

Also, EA really did spill the beans to its investors, huh?

Wasn’t it something like $5 for a CAR-HORN?! (aka Something you will NEVER fucking use in a racing game!)

In comparison, I once got Dead Space 1 & 2 AND Outlast in a Steam sale for £7 (or $9)

3 Full Single Player Games VS almost 2 «Cosmetics» that I will never use.

You gotta be fucking kidding me.

    • lidendich sibenich:

I am not defending these practices. But your comparisment is fairly deceptive. You are using two games that are not only 6+ years old, but also on a sale.

A better comparisment would be to say that this completely useless and generic carhorn alone (that is nothing more but a glorified soundfile) makes out 1/12th of the vanilla-price of this game

    • lidendich sibenich:

That One Guy Named Matt you clearly have no idea what «autistic» even means do you?…

    • chronoss chiron:

ya should a seen angry joe go postal about that horn LOL…that was it….

    • Shadow60f:

Wait…isn’t that now? the prices on dead space 1 and 2 are like super low…also do you think as a guy who is an absolute coward and pi5535 his pant’s at horrors that as old as they are it will make for a good LP to make people laugh?

  2. ivan pabon:

Now if only thay can take out the loot boxes form overwatch

  3. Vercusgames:

EU put their foot down. If it goes through, this will force AAA to either focus solely on screwing over the USA or abandoning it. I’m sure they’ll fight every step of the way. But this momentum is dying down. Loot boxes are losing.

  4. Richard Watson:

    Wanna hear something funny?

    Bait crates.

  5. Aron Gari:

An interesting bit of information about the «analyst» that said «gamers are overreacting». https://imgur.com/gallery/VpdEe

  6. Robert Rowley:

What really pisses me off is most hardcore Need for Speed fans are praising this game, saying it’s one of the best Need for Speeds. They’ve even gone as far as bashing review sights for less than stellar review scores. I played the game, and it would be ok if it wasn’t for the unbelievable bad upgrade system. You have to unlock every cosmetic, and the card system is just pure fucking cancer. Another good game ruined by EA’s greed

    • Lando Calrissian:

Are these actual people you talk to directly or a paid corporate shill on the web?

    • Jan M:

People have opinions now?? How novel!!

    • Jan M:

It’s not tied to loot boxes, the vast majority of all type of currency is gained through doing events. The only pieces of customisation found in the loot boxes are the neons, air suspension, nitrous colour and tyre colour, which I agree is bollocks. But it is not the lootboxfest everyone makes it out to be.

    • Robert Rowley:

Jan M It’s not officially loot boxes, but it’s definitely inspired by it if you ask me. You can tell that EA is trying to slowly test the waters with microtransactions in this game, and seeing how many fans are defending it, they’ll probably try and get away with more randomized loot and microtransactions in the next game. That’s how EA works these days

    • RAY M:

Jan M and actually spend real money?

nooe i rather play more NFS 2015 thats way more fun

because you can upgrade cars by Completing Amy mission at least

and once done that you can upgrade your car you want and Beat the game you want whatever do you want.

i actually Beat the game with BRZ that give me at start thats big good thing then Older nfs

cars for drag and racing and drift is stricted for 1 car is stupid

take this example if you want play game with your lovely Camero? you gonna buy 3 carmeros because drfit drag racing is only stricted for 1 buy.

remember The Crew? you can select dirt racing kits for 1 fucking car?

  7. Roman Bellic:

Meanwhile their new Battlefront 2 patch broke the game.

  8. Stephan Gruber:

Great, now all these casuals who «play the game» get the rewards to. So much for my sense of pride and accomplishment!

  9. A Physics Professor:

Disney: «You are making us look bad! Stop it!. By the way, your first payment to Disney for use of the Star Wars name is due by the end of December.»

  10. The Bamboozler:

First time I’ve seen footage from this game. So trucks go like 120 MPH now? whhhhhaat?

    • Hazardous Bill:

      O. M. G. L. O. L.

    • Chris Fuller:

could be a racing truck…I’ve seen 18-wheelers that can go 110mph, especially if they made it purely for racing.

    • Shadow60f:

Racing games never made sense to me in the first place? wouldn’t a master of the fastest car always outdo anyone in a slower car? at which point why even bother with slow cars because they will never catch up unless you have like a giant circle of a road going upwards for a loooong time at which point they would crash, in other words it’s much like fifa, it’s crazy to put accrington stanley (wait who are they again?) against the likes of Man UTD or Arsenal ect when you know they are much better…wow I used a football reference and I don’t even like soccer? XO

Don’t let off the pressure! Remember to stay vigilant and stay energetic. We’ll win this one if we never let up.

  12. XOLiD:

Jim are you ever going to say anything about Valve’s community (gambling) market?

  13. TormentedWasp:

Game devs deserve to be just as wealthy as movie stars and other entertainers. They are providing hours and hours of entertainment. A top movie star gets paid millions for staring in a movie that lasts under 2 hours. Why is it bad when game devs want some kaching for their hard work?

    • Yal Rathol:

why? a game dev isn’t the equivalent of a movie star in this metaphor. the game devs are the equivalent of the people holding the cameras, setting up the scene, putting the props away, etc. the devs are the stagehands, not the actors. do you think the stagehands get rich off a performance?

    • Montesama314:

When I watch a movie, I know I’m getting a WHOLE movie. I know who’s in it, and I can look up the premise. Oh, and when you’re sitting down for your 2 hours of Justice League, there’s no crazy mofo at the projector shutting it off every 30 minutes and asking us to pay more money, or telling us «if you don’t want to pay for the ending, you can check out one of our random movie screens for free! See if that’s the movie you want.»

  14. StraightShooterGaming:

Just boycott all games with lootboxes cosmetic or not. Its that simply. We don’t buy the games they’ll stop ruining them.

    • StraightShooterGaming:

How many times since lootbox inception have they been removed from a game even if only temporarily because of fan backlash? We’re making progress, it was always going to get worse before it got better because people justified them by saying «They’re only cosmetic» bleh. Well now that they’re being tied to progression that seems to be the straw that broke the camel. Just keep boycotting games and encourage others to do the same. Once they realize the revenue they got from Lootboxes doesn’t outweigh the cost of bad PR or poor sales they’ll stop including them.

    • Hopalongtom:

StraightShooterGaming We have been, they just got worse!

    • Yal Rathol:

StraightShooterGaming pretty easy boycott for me, since i don’t play multiplayer games and even spending 60 dollars on a game is pushing it for me.

  15. fl00fydragon:

Belgium declared loot boxes as a form of gambling , they are going to set laws according to this , the avalanche has started

and it’s pushing to make it the EU law , also the state of hawai did that

    • kyubii972:

fl00fydragon great I’m glad. Good luck in most other states. Especially the southern ones with casinos fucking everywhere especially in the states where it is a state-run lottery system where the state almost literally is predatory in reminding all the poor people that can that the Powerball is coming up soon you might win all this money if you give us some money that you could be better off saving!
